'Macedonia and the European Union'.

The Centre for the Study of Wider Europe (CSWE), at NUI Maynooth, are delighted to announce our upcoming research seminar on 24 March 2010.

The theme of the seminar will be on the future of the Western Balkans within the EU and the emphasis will be on the accessions paths of Croatia and Macedonia.

The speakers are:

  • His Excellency Mr Veselko Grubišič , Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia

    Ambassador Grubišič holds a Master's Degree in International Relations from the University of Zagreb and is a graduate of the George C. Marshall European Centre for Security Studies, Germany. A scientist by profession he enetred the Croatian diplomatic service in 1997 and has been ambassador to Ireland since December 2006.
  • Professor Edward Moxon-Browne, University of Limerick

    Professor Moxon-Browne is Emiritus Professor of European Politics at the University of Limerick and was previously Jean Monnet Chair of European Politics at UL and Reader in Politics at Queen's University, Belfast. He has published widely in the field of European integration, EU enlargement studies and conflict resolution. Among his books are: Nations, Class and Creed in Northern Ireland (Gower, 1983); Political Change in Spain (Routledge, 1989); European Terrorism (Dartmouth, 1993); A Future for Peacekeeping (MacMillan, 1997); Who are the Europeans Now (Ashgate, 2004).

The seminar will be held in the John Hume Boardroom (JH Building, North Campus, NUI Maynooth) from 6-8pm on 24 March 2010.
