Gerard Toal: 'After Ethnic Cleansing: Bosnian Lessons for the Caucasus.'

Venue: Lecture Theatre 4, John Hume Building, North Campus, National University of Ireland Maynooth.

Gerard Toal graduated from the Geography programme at Maynooth and is now Professor of Government and International Affairs at Virginia Tech, Alexandria, USA. Along with Simon Dalby, Gerard developed the style of Political Geography known as Critical Geopolitics. This has been enormously influential in Human Geography and in his own research Gerard Toal has both pioneered and developed post-structural approaches to the discourses of Geopolitics. Most recently he has published a major study of post-war Bosnia - Bosnia Remade: Ethnic Cleansing and its Reversal (Oxford University Press, 2011).

This lecture is part of the 40th anniversary celebrations for the Geography Department at Maynooth.
