Geraldine Byrne Nason is Ireland's most senior civil servant in EU affairs and one of two secretaries general managing Ireland's foreign affairs portfolio. She is a graduate of NUI Maynooth and most recently served as Director of the National Forum on Europe (2004 to 2005) and Ireland's Deputy Ambassador to the European Union within the Permanent Representation in Brussels (2008-2011). She previously worked at executive level with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris.
